We reach for cozy sweaters, indulge in baked goods, and binge-watch Netflix—and that’s perfectly fine! Just as animals hibernate and trees shed their leaves, it’s natural for us to crave comfort during this season. However, if you’re like me, you might also want to feel a sense of accomplishment or ward off the winter blues. That’s where this 30-day winter self-care challenge comes in!
This challenge is designed to embrace the restful vibe of winter while nurturing your mind, body, and soul. Let’s break it down into three themes: Rest, Reflect, and Reset. Ready to take care of yourself this winter? Let’s dive in!

Winter Self-Care Challenge Breakdown
Rest: Slow down and recharge. Pamper yourself, embrace small joys, and rejuvenate for the year ahead.
Reflect: Look back on the past year. Celebrate your growth, revisit cherished memories, and envision your future.
Reset: Prepare for success. Set goals, declutter your life, and build routines to make your dreams a reality.
Days 1-10: Rest
Day 1: Take a Long Bath
Set the mood with candles and calming music. Use bath bombs or bubbles you’ve been saving. Maybe even pour yourself a glass of wine. Let the warm water melt away stress and take a break from your endless to-dos. Close your eyes and feel the tension leave your body as you soak
Day 2: Practice Deep Breathing
Find a quiet spot, close your eyes, and take deep breaths. Inhale for four counts, exhale for six. Repeat 10 times or as many as you like. Focus on the sensation of air filling your lungs and leaving your body. Open your eyes, do a little stretch, and notice how you feel.
Day 3: Sleep In
No alarm today! Sleep until your body naturally wakes up (or as long as you are able – thanks kids and pets!). Have a leisurely breakfast and stay in your pajamas for as long as you want. Let yourself enjoy a slow, unhurried morning to recharge.
Day 4: Make a Fancy Coffee
Recreate your favorite coffee shop drink at home. Froth some milk, drizzle caramel, or indulge in whipped cream. Savor every sip—don’t rush this little moment of luxury. Notice the aroma, warmth, and flavors as you enjoy your treat.
Day 5: Use Aromatherapy
Light a candle, diffuse essential oils, or simmer a pot of herbs and citrus on the stove. Step outside for a moment, then come back to fully appreciate the comforting scents. Aromatherapy can elevate your mood and create a cozy atmosphere at home.
Day 6: Meditate
Take 10-20 minutes for a guided meditation. Apps like Balance or free YouTube videos can help you relax and visualize your happy place. Focus on your breathing, and let any stress or worries melt away. Meditation is a powerful way to recharge your mind.
Day 7: Practice a Hobby
Pick up a hobby you’ve been neglecting. Read, crochet, care for your houseplants—whatever makes your heart happy. If you’re unsure, check out this post for 60 hobby ideas. Dedicate at least 30 minutes to doing something purely for yourself.
Day 8: Digital Detox
Put your phone away for the day (or even just a few hours). Disconnect from social media and enjoy the present moment. Use the extra time to connect with loved ones, read, or take a walk. For extra help, try a timed lockbox like this one.
Day 9: Make a Cozy Meal
Cook up a hearty soup, chili, or casserole. Pair it with crusty bread for dunking and savor every bite. There’s nothing like comfort food on a chilly day. Take your time in the kitchen, and enjoy the process of making something warm and delicious.
Day 10: Have a Spa Day
Pamper yourself with a face mask, foot soak, or DIY manicure. Create a spa-like atmosphere at home with candles and soft music. Take this time to focus on yourself and feel refreshed.
Days 11-20: Reflect
Day 11: Look Through Old Photos
Take a trip down memory lane with old photos on your phone, social media, or physical photo albums. Reconnect with happy moments and maybe reach out to a friend you’ve been missing. Reliving fond memories can remind you of how far you’ve come and spark joy.
Day 12: Journal Your Thoughts
Get all the thoughts and emotions swirling around in your head down on paper. What’s been on your mind? What triggers your emotions? Journaling can bring clarity and peace. It’s a wonderful way to reflect on your mental and emotional well-being.
Day 13: Practice Gratitude
Make a list of all the things you are grateful for and see how many you can come up with. 10? 20? 100? It doesn’t matter how small or insignificant they seem. Maybe you are grateful for the fuzzy socks on your feet or the way your dog kicks and squeaks when he’s dreaming. Whatever it is for you, add it to the list. If it is a person, shoot them a text when you’re done just to say “Hey, I’m grateful to have you in my life”. Simple as that, no explanation necessary. It is guaranteed to brighten their day and yours.
Day 14: Choose a Theme for the Year
Choosing a theme or just a word for your year is a great way to set the tone and your intentions for the upcoming year. Maybe it’s “debt free” or “simplicity” or “adventure”. Let it inspire your goals. This simple act can provide clarity and direction for the months ahead.
Day 15: Create a Playlist
Make a playlist that embodies your year’s theme. It could be a calming playlist for your year of zen or a happy upbeat one to get you up and moving! Music can inspire, motivate, and even provide comfort when you need it most.
Day 16: Create a Vision Board
Visualize the life you want for yourself and create a vision board to organize your thoughts. Collect images, quotes, and words that represent your dream life, and hang it somewhere you will see it often to keep you motivated. Check out this post for all the details.
Day 17: Write “Open When” Letters
Your mood, energy, and motivation will naturally ebb and flow throughout the year. As you reflect on the good memories you’ve had and the progress you’ve made, write some notes to yourself and keep them in a box to open when you’re feeling down or insecure. These could even just be simple quotes or affirmations or even photos from a happy time. Check out this post for some quotes to read when you need a boost.
Day 18: Call a Loved One
Catch up with someone who always makes you laugh. If possible, visit them or invite them over for coffee. Meaningful conversations can strengthen relationships and lift your spirits.
Day 19: Do a Self-Assessment
Evaluate your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Rate each on a scale from 1-10 to identify areas to focus on in the new year. This can help you set priorities and create actionable plans. Check out this post for more on how to assess your life and plan a full life reset.
Day 20: Set Goals
Define specific, actionable goals. Use the SMART framework to make them achievable. Breaking your goals into smaller steps can make them feel more manageable and rewarding. This post will give you some great ideas for SMART goals to set for yourself.
Days 21-30: Reset
Day 21: Declutter Trash
Walk through your home with a trash bag and toss anything you don’t need. Start fresh! Clearing physical clutter can create a sense of mental clarity and peace.
Day 22: Declutter Your Space
Donate or sell items that no longer serve you. Create a home that feels calm and organized. A tidy space can have a positive impact on your mood and productivity.
Day 23: Declutter Your Digital Life
Clean up emails, unsubscribe from unnecessary lists (hopefully not this one!), and delete unused apps. Clear the clutter from your devices. Organizing your digital space can help you feel more in control.
Day 24: Refresh Your Wardrobe
Sort through your clothes and keep only what fits and makes you feel great. Treat yourself to a new piece or two if you can. Now is a great time to bust out any gift cards you received for Christmas! Feeling good in what you wear can boost your confidence.
Day 25: Refresh Your Routines
Evaluate all of your daily routines – morning, evening, skin-care, fitness, cleaning, etc. Adjust or create new ones that align with your goals. Routines can provide structure and help you stay consistent with your intentions. Be sure to write it down so you can reference anytime you need to until it becomes a habit you do on autopilot. For more on creating routines, check out this post!
Day 26: Plan Your Budget
Take a good look at your financial situation and make a plan to whip it into shape (if its not already). Look at your income, debt, spending, net worth, the whole picture. Check out this post to guide you all along the way. Your financial glow-up is just around the corner!
Day 27: Set Yourself Up for Success
Get what you need to succeed, whether it’s a new planner, gym gear, or a self-care kit. Preparing ahead makes it easier to stay on track with your goals, plus getting a couple new things can help to get you excited to get after them!
Day 28: Get Moving
Boost your endorphins with a workout, even a gentle yoga session. Physical activity can uplift your mood and energize you for the day ahead. Try something new to keep it fun! Check out some of my favorite YouTube channels in this post.
Day 29: Make a Healthy Meal
Nourish your body with wholesome food to sustain your energy and focus. Cooking a healthy meal can also be a therapeutic and rewarding activity.
Day 30: Take Action Toward a Goal
Take one step, no matter how small, toward your goals. Progress starts with action. Write one paragraph of your book, sign up for a fitness class, or make a healthy grocery list. Celebrate the momentum you’ve created for the year ahead.
