Spring cleaning season is here, and I have a love-hate relationship with it. There’s nothing better than opening the windows after months of being cooped up inside and making my home feel fresh and new.
But let’s be real—getting started can feel overwhelming. I’ll spend weeks thinking about it, planning, and mentally listing every task I need to do. Sound familiar?
I am all about tackling projects with a game plan but sometimes too much planning can act as a barrier to making progress. So today I am knocking down that barrier for both of us with my printable spring cleaning checklist.

When Does Spring Cleaning Start?
Technically, spring cleaning starts whenever you decide to clean, but most people associate it with the spring equinox (around March 20-21).
Personally, I like to wait a little longer—around mid-April—when it’s warm enough to open the windows and let in fresh air.

Spring cleaning is deep cleaning—tackling tasks that aren’t part of your regular routine. This includes washing windows, scrubbing baseboards, decluttering forgotten corners, and giving your home the refresh it deserves.

Room-by-Room Spring Cleaning Guide
Entryway/Foyer Cleaning Checklist
- Declutter and organize shoes, coats, and accessories
- Wipe down doors, doorknobs, and light switches
- Clean and disinfect entryway table or console
- Dust and clean decorative items, mirrors, and picture frames
- Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors (including under rugs)
- Shake out and wash entryway rugs and doormats
- Wipe down baseboards and walls
- Clean or replace light fixtures and bulbs
- Organize mail and keys
Kitchen Cleaning Checklist
- Empty, clean, and organize pantry (check for expired items)
- Wipe down all kitchen cabinets and handles
- Deep clean refrigerator and freezer (discard expired items)
- Scrub microwave inside and out
- Clean oven and stovetop (including burner grates and drip pans)
- Sanitize sink and garbage disposal (use baking soda and vinegar)
- Disinfect and wipe down countertops and backsplash

Spring Cleaning Tips
- Work from Top to Bottom: Start with ceilings, light fixtures, and shelves before moving to furniture and floors to avoid re-cleaning dust and debris.
- Use a Timer: Set a 15-30 minute timer for each task to stay focused. <link to post>
- Work Room-by-Room: Don’t overwhelm yourself—tackle one space at a time.
- Declutter as You Clean: Have a donation box handy for unwanted items.
- Use Natural Cleaners: Vinegar, baking soda, and lemon are great non-toxic alternatives.
- Make It Fun: Play your favorite music, turn it into a family challenge, or reward yourself when you finish a room.
- Make Repairs as You Go: Tighten loose screws, touch up paint, replace light bulbs, and fix anything broken while you’re cleaning.
- Get the Whole Family Involved: Assign tasks to everyone to finish faster.
